CCC Regrets to Announce that This event has been Cancelled due to low event regristrion making it not possible to have proper rating sections.

This Tournament was organized on the high Demand of the Players but somehow at this time there wasnt much interest in it.

CCC will refund all the participants.

Dates:    Saturday OCT. 5 2024- Sunday OCT. 6 2024.

Sponsor:    Calgary Chess Club (CCC) and Alberta Chess Association.

Host:         CCC at CCC's premises

TD:            TBD

Format:     Swiss, 5-rounds, Classic 90/30 (game in 90 minutes plus 30 seconds/move), 

6 players in each section.

TD has right to adjust lower sections if entrants are not divisible by 6.

If 4 remain, then 4-player back-to-back round robins.

If 1 or 2 or 3 remain, then partial round robin when combined with the lowest full section of 6.

If 5 remain then all players will receive one bye.

No byes will be available due to sectional tournament format.  

Entry Fees:  Regular Adult $49, Junior (U20) $44, includes an $8 admin fee.

Regular Titled Players (NM and above) $19, Earlybird $11.

                 If paid more than 24-hours ahead, (i.e., before 07:00 PM on Friday Oct 4, 2024 the admin fee is waived, making Earlybird Adult $41, Junior $36.)

Eligibility:    Current CFC (Canadian Chess Federation) and CCC memberships are both required.

Ratings:    CCC will use ratings (CFC Classical) as at Saturday Oct 4, 2024 to make sections

TD Rules and Procedures:

1.    The TD will not accept promises !! of attendance or payment.

2.     No-show default time is 30-minutes, but if a player contacts the TD, an extra 15 minutes may be allowed at TD discretion.

3.     TD has the right to eject any Player who violates CCC’s posted Zero Tolerance Policy.

Purchase of Entry Fees and/or CCC Membership:  May be made:

         via Etransfer to Payments@CalgaryChess.com, password = Excellence, or

         Cash

 CFC Membership:  Required, but CCC does not accept payments for CFC.  If necessary, join/renew CFC membership online at https://www.chess.ca/en/players/membership-join/.  The annual fee is Adult $43, Junior $28.  Alternatively, a CFC single-tournament membership is Adult $20, Junior $10.

If a Player joined or renewed at CFC in the previous 10 days, TD may require proof (e.g., screenprint).

 Prizes: will be the sum of entry fees less:

1.       CFC rating fees

2.       TD fees

3.       CCC overhead charge of upto 10% to cover supplies, and payment processing fees

4.       CCC snacks.

There will only be one prize per section of 6.

CCC guarantees the 1st place prize in each section (of 6) will be $100.
