Calgary Chess Club offers Chess classes

With the Calgary chess club open again, we’re happy to announce that chess classes will begin next Thursday July 22nd. from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. and continue on July 29th, Aug 7th and Aug 13th (Wednesday). The Beginners class will run from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The Novice class will run from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The Beginners class is suited for students who are new to the game and would like to learn the rules of chess, basic checkmates and introductory opening ideas. The Novice class is suited for students who have taken the Beginners classes or already know the rules of the game and have an elementary knowledge of checkmates and opening ideas. Both the Beginners and Novice classes are open to students and adults alike. They will run for 4 weeks and the classes fee is $60.00 for Beginners and $61.00 for the Novice.

All participants must be members of the Calgary chess club. Membership is $25/year for juniors (under 20 years) and $30/year for adults. CCC Members can sign out up to 5 books for free, participate in tournaments, play casual chess on Thursdays (established players) and Public Open-House Fridays (highly recommended for both groups), attend the CCC Christmas party, etc.
