The Calgary chess club is pleased to announce the first over the board tournament since the outbreak of Covid-19.

The Bobby Fischer Memorial tournament starts Tuesday July 13th at 7:00 pm.
Tournament format: 5-round Open Swiss, CFC and FIDE rated
Time Control: Game in 90 minutes + 30 seconds/move
Tuesdays July 13, 20, 27 and Aug 3, 10 at 7:00 pm.
Prizes: Total entry fees collected less expenses. The prizes will be posted before 4th round. Minimum 1st prize guaranteed $175. Other prizes for 2nd and 3rd place. Top 1750-1999. Top 1500-1749, Top 1000-1499, Top 999 or less and unrated
Entry fee is $40, $35 for juniors (20- yrs.) and $35 for seniors (65+ yrs). On-site entry please add $10 unless special exemption granted prior.

However the CFC membership may also be purchased on site. Annual membership is $43 for adults, $28 for juniors. CFC tournament membership is $21 for adults, $11 for juniors.

Pairings will be emailed to the participants at the latest the night before. However these pairings are provisional only and are subject to change just prior to the game. This is because emergencies do happen and some players may not be able to play with the TD being notified only hours and even minutes prior to the start of the game.
Byes: A maximum of two half-point byes available in rounds 1-4 if requested before the start of round 1.
