I’m really happy to announce that Pat Moore has joined our 2023 Canadian Open organizing committee.
We will find out for certain if we won the bid to host the Canadian Open on August 1, 2021, but currently all the indications are that we will be successful in getting our bid accepted.
Pat Moore is a strong player, and he has been a relentless CCC volunteer since joining the club about 3 years ago.
Welcome to the group Pat!
So far, we have the following volunteers for the 2023 Canadian Open organizing committee in alphabetical order:
Michael Anderson (CCC Secretary & online tournament organizer, retired)
Pat Moore (dedicated CCC volunteer, teacher, musician, retired)
Zeeshan Munir (CCC Director & Grandmaster Corner co-organizer, CPR IT)
Vlad Rekhson (former ACA president, 2005 & 2009 Canadian Open organizing committee, teacher)
Dustin Rogers (wealth of organizing experience)
Steve Sklenka, (CCC president) & (Marie)
Ted Wilson (1996 Canadian Open Chair, CCC Legend) & (Gail)
Ideally, my goal is to engage 12 dependable volunteers to spread the workload and make this fun for everyone involved.
Therefore, I’m still looking for 5 more volunteers who would like to be part of this exciting journey.
This is an excellent opportunity to leave a legacy behind with the Calgary and Alberta chess community as I have no doubt that the 2023 Canadian Open will be a highly successful and much talked about tournament.
If you’d like to be part of the 2023 Canadian Open organizing committee, please email or text me at 403-703-3864. Alternatively, if you know someone that you feel might be an asset, please let me know. You do not have to be a CCC member to be on the organizing committee. Thank you.
Best,
Steve Sklenka
