Type: Rapid 10 Round Swiss Active

Ratings:  It will NOT be CFC rated, as this requires CFC memberships, very expensive for students.

Organizer: Frank Kluytmans

Head Arbiter: Frank Kluytmans

 Assistant Arbiter:  Logan MacLeod

Time Control: Rapid, game in 25 min + 10 second increment

Official Rules:

The standard FIDE rules apply to Rapid Active tournaments, this is not a Blitz tournament.  A printed copy of the FIDE rules will be available.
Remember this tournament will have a number of beginners, who don’t even know how to use a clock.  Keeping score is not required in Active tournaments.  These rules will be addressed before the start of round 1.
0.  Time control is 25 minutes for the entire game plus 10 second increment after every move.  If your time ends, you lose the game.
1.  Touch move is enforced.
2.  All electronic devices must be turned off in the playing area, the 2nd floor of the Library.
3.  Rule #1 applies, if an illegal move is made, stop the clock, and notify the arbiter.  I agree with Vlad Rekhson (IA): By official rules you are supposed to forfeit players who make illegal moves.  I wouldn’t enforce it there, with all the beginners.  You probably need to announce that in advance that you will for example add two min for a clock if opponent makes an illegal move.  Forfeiture will only be enforced between regular rated players.
4.  No assistance is allowed from outside in the playing area.
