Final Standings: http://calgarychess.com/WORDPRESS/?page_id=830
The first tournament of the Fall season had a great turnout of 24 people. NM Martin Robichaud took first place undefeated with 4.0 points winning $130. There was a 4-way tie for 2nd-5th, with Vlad Rekhson, Itohan Gold, Brandon Eshleman and newcomer Hamid Abdelrhman.
The major news of the tournament was young junior Chen Wu rated only 876, beating both Tom McKay rated 1528 and expert Jim Daniluk rated 2057. With his 3.0 points he became the U1800 rating winner of $50. Another interesting statistic, of the 24 participants, 1 was a young lady, and 5 were juniors.
Thanks to Deweese Wood in being our designated “odd” man.
